IE 22000 class

Having travelled on one of these yesterday into Dublin I can't help but feel these would have been ideal to operate the longer distance TPE services (Newcastle/Scotland) - they can do 100mph, good acceleration, hydro-dynamic brake, automated PA system and have a much more intercity feel than 185s have. They don't sound bad either.. Hyundai also built some 6-car sets for IE which again would have been ideal for some TPE routes. Never going to happen but would've loved to have seen TPE chip in for an order themselves to have these working to Scotland and Newcastle with 185s being kept on the shorter TPE routes.

If TPE had ordered some, they would have looked exactly the same inside as the 185s. TPE would have specified the interior. Siemens could build you fantastic interiors if you want.
