I noticed that the west facing bay platform at Bridgend is still intact, but unused.
It's previously been mentioned elsewhere that residents further up the valley in Caerau and Cymmer would like the line old line reopened, but this seems unlikely.
Instead, should a higher frequency Tram-Train shuttle service be used from the Bridgend Bay platform up to Maesteg and then switching to street running and passengers for Cardiff and Swansea change at Bridgend onto a direct fast train?
(ignoring the stations between Bridgend and Cardiff which are currently served by Maesteg trains for the purposes of this thread).
