Ideas for the best railway documentary?

Just wondering if anyone's got any ideas for a documentary series on the railway worth downloading? Looking for present day rather than older ones.

But while good thats not "present day" (as per the OP request) is it? I must confess I do think the older ones are better though.

I loved "The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track"

Liked the Sky1 east coast docs, but the voice over had a ridiculous voice. Richard something, I think. The one who everyone said died when he didnt.

The Kings X ones with VTEC were brilliant, but three episodes wasnt enough.

My favourite was the First Great Western ones but I cant get hold of them since watching them in 2015! Can anyone help me get to them?!! Thanks

I found the Crossrail documentary and the Keeping Britain On Track documentary to both be quite interesting to watch.

Take away the slam doorstock and it could almost be the South Eastern today ! Same generic problems , but train crew shortages not so bad today ! .

Excellent documentary as not contrived with "touchy feely" narrative. (which was so cringeworthy on "Railcops")

That was amazing, a bit different from my experience about 5 years ago and I wasn't sure about some of the commentary but I really enjoyed it. Many thanks for that.

I reckon I was there about 9 months before the series was released and I can assure you that (allowing for the way Miles Kington told the story) it was accurate.

When we got home I came in from work one day a few months later to see a report about a revolution in Bolivia on the news. I've always wondered if the GRJ crew managed to get that film out somehow because I can't remember ever seeing a news report about a South American coup before or since.

Oh and we ran into the preceding revolution (late 1979) but we managed to get into La Paz just before everything shut down.

We happened to be in La Paz in January 2012 on Alesitas which coincided with the Second Aniversary of the new Constitution. There was a 2 hour speach by the President Evo Morales and all kinds of military parades and parties. It was a pretty incredible occasion to accidentally turn up to.

Perhaps a bit too old but one of the most pleasant was John Betjeman`s series on the pleasures of Branch Lines

His quirky , slightly eccentric ways and his enthusiasm for country lines plus his disdain for motorcars made the programs enjoyable .
