Anyone travelled on the ICE 3neo recently in Belgium and used the on board restaurant? How does it compare to German domestic routes and does it open on departure from Brussels?

Wondering whether it's worth having dinner onboard since it's an evening departure at 18:26. Travelling from Brussels to Dusseldorf in May, but changing at Aachen instead due to construction work via the normal Cologne route, so will take the regional train direct from there to Dusseldorf. That only gives us an hour on board to eat.

Back in December I got on in Aachen (where the train was starting due to the derailment last year) for Brussels and went almost immediately to the counter to ask for a beer, and it took a while because people in the restaurant had already ordered a bunch of hot dishes that the attendant was frantically preparing in the micro. I would assume it opens immediately on departure from Brussels in the other direction.

The restaurant indeed opens immediately after departure in Brussels. The train is normally opened about 15 minutes before departure. Head straight for the restaurant, since you won't be the only one. One hour should be enough to have a meal.
