I'm off to Lisbon next month then training it back to Edinburgh via:-

Porto; Vigo; Barcelona, Nîmes, Paris, & London.

I've managed to get most (well some) of the trains booked in advance but I have a few questions re. the rest:-

1) I am unable to book any Portuguese trains from the UK with the FIP discount (only available locally) or using coupons. That said does anyone know how to arrange seat reservations from this side?

2) Does the international Celta train from Porto to Vigo accept FIP free coupons [CP/RENFE] and if not any idea of the FIP fare [50%] - I have a feeling it could be about 8.00€?

3) No one seems to be able to book the TGV from Barcelona to Nîmes with a FIP card in the UK. I've tried DB UK, voyage SNCF, renfe.co.uk, & Spanish Rail UK. I will have about 30 mins from arriving at Barcelona (ex sleeper from Vigo) to departing for Nîmes ~ will this be enough time to purchase a ticket locally and clear security (?). What would the FIP fare be? Which brings me onto.....

4) Is it possible to split fares on cross border European trains? e.g. some countries give us 50% discount (Spain) but others 75% (France). However an international journey only gets 50% for the complete trip so in the example above is it possible to book Barcelona - Perpignan at 50% (cross border international rate) then Perpignan - Nîmes at 75% (internal French rate) without changing trains? Which further brings me onto......

5) Can you use a French free coupon for an internal French journey on a TGV that has originated outside France?

I can't help with much of this, but...

5) Yes, you can use a coupon in this way. I travelled from Basel to Paris last summer, and used a local service to Mulhouse before joining the TGV that had also come from Basel. The coupon was good for the internal journey, but not for an international journey.
