Ian Allan ABC combined volume

Ok, back in the 70's i used to train spot as a kid and used the ABC books to mark off what i spotted, cab ridden etc.

Now, most loco's from then are now gone so my questions are, do they still have the ABC combined books today ?

Is there an online site that has the current loco fleet in service and those that are not ?

Abrail is better for preserved locos, as it shows the running number, the last number the loco carried while in traffic (if the numbers are different), and also which line the loco is based at.

Several companies and societies produce "numbers" books but Ian Allan haven't done so since 1989. Platform 5 have now produce seperate locomotive, DMU, EMU and coaching stock books twice each year with a combined volume each April/May. I don't think many bookshops stock these books now, they're even difficult to find at railway stations.

WHSmith at Crewe and the similiar places on Donny station sell them. Otherwise it's exceptionally hard to find them.

Wow, ian allan produced ABC books etc for donkeys years.
I still have my 1976 one because it listed the old BR numbers and the new TOPS.
never heard of platform 5.

never went much on DMU's in the old days except for the class 205's as they had the same power plant as class 73.

i used to get mine from bournemouth station and if they didnt have it, i would ask one of the drivers to get one from southampton station for me if i didnt have the fare.

i cant belive they are so hard to find now.
