Its been biting me for a while now, since I've seen this style of lamp on many trains not just UK ones but on the export market. they seem to be mass produced and range from sprinters to networkers to even intercity expresses. I will post photos before and after conversion. I also wonder why they got converted to remove the outer Headcode

The single hinged unit with 3 luminaries (rectangular white marker light on outside, round Halogen headlight in the middle and round red tail light inside) was typically known as a "WIPAC light cluster".

WIPAC is the manufacturer (still around and does non-rail stuff as well).

The originals used filament builds throughout - although the original filament marker light bulbs were often later swapped for LED direct plug-in replacement bulbs. The later 3 luminary clusters came with fixed LED units as standard.

The even later style with only 2 round units, have gas discharge/HID headlights and a multi-colour LED unit for the marker that can display either red or white (hence only need one luminary)

I think WIPAC may be (or was) the product name. The manufacturer is BMAC: http://www.bmac.ltd.uk/product-category/rail/

Wipac was a long standing road vehicle lighting and electrical manufacturer, and they are still around. Their website seems all about modern car LED stuff. I think what’s probably happened is they licensed their rail and bus product range to BMAC at some time, and the latter probably started out producing stuff with the Wipac branding - often it was moulded into the lenses.

But older style “Wipac” road vehicle lighting seems to be easily available from aftermarket suppliers, although I suspect it’s mostly from licensed third party manufacturers.
