Hi Everyone.
Been using MSTS for a few weeks now and in that time I managed to grasp all the things that can be added to it.For example,Train Store, adding New Routes.Almost everything except adding New Loco's.
I have done everything suggested by Group Members as to were in the prog to put the files and opened all The Read Me Files that come with each individual Loco to check were they should go and Every Bloody Time I end up with out The Loco Controls.Everything else works fine. You can view The Loco whilst running an activity by pressing The Number Key's 2,3,4,and 6.All the sounds are there and working.
If I go into The MSTS Program and Click on Trainsets and then The Loco I require all the relevant files are there I just cant get them to load.
Basicly it's The Cabview that I'm missing every time. All The Computer Controls work as for moving and braking etc.
Is there anyone out there with the time and patieice to sort of lay it out for me step by step with the aid of drawings or pictures as it seem's that's the only way I will grasp it!
If they were all as simple as

http://members.uktrainsim.com/filelib-info.php?form_fileid=17375

which only require you to install into the MSTS Prog and it all self extracts with The Sounds and Cab view.
So sorry to be A Pain in The Arse but it's so frustrating.
HELP. Eifion.

Eifion - WELCOME to the wonderful world thats MSTS - it is a pain at times

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/index.html is a good site for tutorials and beginners help pages. The tutorials cover all manner of subjects from installing addons to aliasing cabs.

http://www.webdottrainsim.com/index.htm has some of the best guides for beginners around.

Obviously you have an account on the UKTrainsim forum search the Help for beginners Forum with the search engine.

Installing new locos and stock can be a complete pain i agree - its good you read the readme but always use winzips classic interface. I don't back my Trainset folder up very often because I install the new loco/stock into into another folder (in my case its in D:Downloads/Incomplete) with other 8500 items of stock it can take some time to find if theres a problem. (I like to have a thumbnail of the loco so that you can see the piedce of stock in the consist viewer - RouteRiter makes this for you)

I can check that all the sub folders are there for cab and sounds then cut and paste into my main Trainset folder. Just my way of doing things but have very few errors

Any probss drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do to help

Fred how many backup trainset folders have you got - even the automatic installers give you the option to save the files wherever you like - admittedly if the stock item doesn't need cabviews and you happy with the sounds it comes with fine.

As mentioned above 8500+ items of stock and no problems - I must be doing something right

No Problem Eifion - on Toms behalf you didn't do anything wrong - When you post a URL from UKTS and its from a link you've logged into to reach, in the url there is a part that says CUTHERE - this contains your session details with UKTS even though they are encrypted and by clicking on the link without removing your details someone can use your login to get Downloads etc. - If you have any doubts PM one of the mods over on UKTS and they will be happy to explain it fully to you.

If you look at this link
http://members.uktrainsim.com///fil...7553&CUTHERE=04c9fc0240ebcbfd7450fb**********

Ive blanked out part of my session id with ********* remove &CUTHERE=04c9fc0240ebcbfd7450fb5*********

Which will leave you with http://members.uktrainsim.com///filelib-info.php?form_fileid=17553 thus protecting your session details

Thanks Meld. I did not realise if I put a link in, that only I could open as a member of UKTS,could then be accessed by other B.B,aka Bad Bastards.
Once again thanks for the tip.
Regards. Eifion.
Still struggling with The Cab View though have now completely mastered Train Store.I will get it right in the end!!
