Hi all,

Can anyone offer any advice on what is the sort of answer being sought to the "having worked to rules and regulations" question at structured interview.

I am not sure what qualifies as an accepetable answer, and want to be prepared should I get through to this stage with my current application. Anything generic will do so that I can tailor my experiences accordingly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Have you ever had to work to a specific set of guidelines? Have you ever had to do something by which if you didn't follow a set proceedure correctly safety would have been compromised?

Thanks Dave

I have worked in construction previously, so was thinking about things like changing wheels on grinders where you have to follow a set procedure eg: isolate power, engage brake, unlock centre nut, remove old wheel, replace with new, locate into flange, tighten centre nut, disengage brake, check wheel rotation manually, if all ok re-energise

Is this the sort of thing, or am I miles off?

Cheers

Can anyone help? I have an assessment day next week in the hope of securing a conductors job, but have a 3 week holiday to America booked in October which has been booked since last November . Will this be a problem! If I'm lucky enough to get the job I would be prepared to take unpaid leave. Thanks

It depends on when the start date is and you will certainly have to take some unpaid leave as you aquire leave on a pro-rata basis with the equasion of: days alocated/12 x full months completed with the company, for example if the annual leave is from January to January and you start June 3rd you will complete 50% of the year (complete months) and if the allocation is say 24 days you will only be alowed 12. If it is the middle of a training course you won't get the job!

That is the sort of thing yes. You don't need to go into major detail on what the procedure was as your interviewer wouldn't know if it was the correct procedure or not. Just emphasise the procedural and safety aspects. Just think what they are looking for and provide your strongest example based on what they are looking for.
