I follow East Coast, FCC, Network Rail and Greater Anglia simply for live running information when at work.

I also follow NRE for live running information for journey enquires again at work.

As to what's going on within the railway, I'm now following Captain Deltic ie Roger Ford.

I'm @ajax103 anyway :)

So you gave in and joined the Twitter race then, XCDriver? :P (Facebook next?)

I'm not on there, but if someone can persuade me it can be interesting, I may have to follow suit heh

Any recommendations for TOC feeds? They could well come in useful when travelling.

The LM one is good I'm told

Yeah, @LondonMidland (backup account is @LondonMidland2) are both excellent giving real time disruption information and will answer your questions!

The NRE accounts are good too (see a list here), as well as @nationalrailenq

i don't think there's much point. I think it's a fad that people will get bored of soon, like Bluetooth.

They said the same about Facebook as well.

To be fair, a form of social networking is completely different to a wireless technology standard.

@DPSimulation - I'll bore you to tears in no time, probably by a lack of activity.

Indeed - the person tweeting every other Sunday or so on the @virgintrains feed is probably the most energetic and funny of the lot by the way :P

My personal feed is @mdw1989, but it's not particularly railway-orientated. :)

Bloody hell, between the TOCs and NRE, you should be able to stay on top of pretty much anything. A manned Twitter feed ought to be a franchise requirement. I tend to read rather than tweet, but hopefully could use it to live update any trains I'm working if anyone wanted to keep track of them.

There is always @networkrail ;) along with @nationalrailenq which is quite useful, indeed during the recent disruption at Bletchley caused by 90046 derailing, it was the quickest way to keep up to date on the live running information and ensuring fellow colleagues and passengers were kept in the loop.

Not forgetting @FirstCC ;)

That's what I tend to do but will tweet from time to time.... As to a manned Twitter feed being a franchise requirement, I totally agree.
