I could not believe at the end of this week this could happen

My son went out at 9.30pm to let the dog out, I went up to bed at 10.45pm and some scum and yes I may get shouted at for this but do I care....not at all because that is what they are Scum.
The scum has broken the window of our Land rover Discovery, got in and had it hitched up to another vehicle and off they have gone. in the space of 1 hour and 20 minutes.

First my caravan before Christmas and now one of the Landy`s.

I work so hard and I am not well, I am really sick of it all.

As you probably know, with a disco it's likely stolen to order for parts or already crated up and on it's way to the middle east.

Hope you had it insured, the police will help by thoroughly investigating their paperwork then giving you a crime number.

Best you can do is hope that the thieves spin on ice somewhere and it lands on top of them- justice!

PS- just in case, keep an eye on ebay and the popular land rover forums, may even be worth posting a pic. HTH

Sorry to hear that.

There's been quite a few expensive cars stolen from around my area in recent months, including an attempt on my neighbour's cars, and people a few streets away who woke up one morning a couple of weeks back to find they'd been burgled and both of their BMWs gone from the drive.

Unfortunately, it seems that Land Rovers are a fairly popular target for theft, especially Defenders.

Unfortunately it seems that you can't have nice things anymore. It's sad to hear that you have been a vitim of crime not once but twice. I can only echo what has been said above leave it in the hands of the police, unfortunately though as said it may already be in bits or on a boat so you are unlikely to see it again.

This is what the scum did, not for parts, for fun, rally it around for a bit, drive it up playing fields hit a tree and burn it.

It can't be recovered as no one can get to it so the recovery people have asked the insurance company if they can burn it.

The coppers know who they are, as they are around on the playing fields rallying a lot of 4 x 4, the scum, drug run and thieve and live and run the area.

You work hard and for what , the picture says it all.

Thank you for all your thoughts and solutions, I would be banned and arrested for what I would do to them at this present time.

Sadly a lot of scum will do that, hopefully the police will do something though, even if anything is done won't get a reasonable sentence.

But then my fathers experience with the police after a lot of camera gear got stolen is less then pleasing even though serial numbers and everything else given.

My former girlfriend had her bag stolen, despit finding a police officer within 5 miniutes of the theft, rather than finding the person, she was given a crime number.... Because that obviously makes it all better...

I believe it is a criminal offence as in it is banned by law, yet is classed as a misdemeanour. Not sure though.

In any case, it could be argued that driving over the speed limit is careless driving which is an offence.

That is really sad, and seems to be an increasing problem these days. I can understand your distress especially when the culprits seem to be getting away with these things.

I am not sure why the police don`t arrest those they watch, and through people that lived where it happened there was a lot of Police presence last night on the field in question.

The criminals seem to get away with it whilst normal folk who work hard pay taxes get the brunt of it.

The question then is if they are arrested how long do they spend in custody before being released as "there was not enough evidence"

At the bottom of the hill where they burnt the Landy out lays the green petrol cans they used to set it alight, the police have not been near to look at them or the evidence we have, part of the lock from the drivers side (they asked us to keep). So basically they don`t care, you are given a crime number but don`t bother to see if there any finger prints because they know who they are and don`t want to rock the boat in certain areas in Sheffield.

Justice does not exist for us !!!!!

Genuinely sorry to hear that Babs. Utter, utter scum. Ive almost given up all hope with the Police now. My car was broken into whilst I was at work, in the station's car park. One of our conductors saw the guy leaning through the smashed window,rifling through the glovebox. The police were duly called, and arrived fairly quickly and apprehended him.
Now he was caught on CCTV, there was a physical whitness, there were glass shards all over him which matched my cars smashed window and the zipper of his jacket was found in the passenger footwell. Added to the fact my iPod was taken from the glovebox he'd forced open and was found up his sleeve.
Turns out he had 2 warrants out for his arrest for Failing to appear at court in connection with previous thefts. So what do the police do? Bail him to appear in court, and true to form, he never appeared at court and was never seen again.

Our local lot seem more interested in persecuting traincrew travelling home in the small hours lately. Ive been stopped four times in the last 12 months for what appears to be no reason other than Im the only car on the road in Rural Carmarthenshire at that time

I'm very sorry to hear that Babs. Its real bad news.

And the Police, well today the Police are about as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Can't do anything without filling in paper work. And even then they can still get into trouble. Crime number? That isn't going to get any criminals court. Nobody is scared of the Police anymore.
Gone are the days when the Police were generaly feard by the criminals. When they used to chase them down, trunchens raised and give them what for. Nowadays if a copper uses his trunchen or taser there's a massive uproar, all over the papers.

When it was the riots, all the footage of the police I seen was of them just standing in a line, shields raised. Maybe the occasional step forward. If this was years ago the police would have been chasing all the rioters down, clubs raised.

Thats just my view on the Police matter.

I suppose you cant just blame the police for granting bail, because that is done by the courts, although the police often oppose it, maybe they did not in this case?

Basically, they should understand that bail for that kind of person is just a license to bugger off as you say, never to be seen again.

It is pathetic because those kind of people just ruin lives of others.

It must be quite upsetting about the car, and all the hassle it causes. Sadly those who do this sort of thing seem to get away with it time after time, the courts giving a wrap on the knuckles and told "don't do it again".
