Hybrid Class 180(s)

Earlier today, I noted Grand Central unit 180105 (numbered as such on both ends) with driving vehicle 50901 from unit 180101 at the London end.

Not sure if this is a permanent or temporary formation, or how long it has been operating as such.

Reports on WNXX have an allocation of this formation of 180105 on 12th Oct and a sighting on 12th Nov.

Oh dear. Is this recent, because in late August I did get 180101 - at least I think I did - but having read this, perhaps I saw the carriage number simply ended in 01 and travelled in dud 105 instead?

The EMR unit in question is 180110 - it’s temporarily in a 4-car formation (still image from a video I took of it pulling into Loughborough attached) because the buffet car is heavily-corroded. As a result, it will require a significant amount of time to repair; hence the decision was made to run 110 as a shorter unit. Once the repairs are done, 110 should return to a 5-car formation.

One driving car of one GCR unit, possibly 114, has had it's engine modified to run on a kind of bio fuel. Because of this it's normal orange solebar stripe has been painted green.

Can't confirm the number, but it worked 1D95 on Sunday. I sat in the bio fuel carriage, and couldn't smell anything!

Yes. They were still like ot a couple of weeks ago when I last looked.

I believe 180109 and 180113 had the swapped cars each, 180110 is running as a 4 car unit and GCR 180105 has a driving car from 180101 replacing it's own - car number 5xx01 but 180105 set number.

Saw set 180112 at York tonight, on the driving car with the green stripe can be seen the faint outline of unit number 180109 on the yellow panel. Was this also a temporary swap? All the numbers on the 5 coaches are xx912

180110 (4-car set) was released from Crofton today and worked 5Q57 Crofton Depot-Etches Park.
However has this come back out as a 4-car or has it been reunited with the missing buffet car?

came back as 4, not sure the missing car is ready yet, however it might be 4 car permanently

180109 and 113 swapped 55909 and 55913 some time during 2018, and were shown with the hybrid formations in the 2019 and 2029 P5 Locomotives and Coaching Stock books.
However, the 2020 and 2021 P5 Locomotives and Coaching Stock books show 180109 and 180113 in their as-built formations, indicating that they swapped back 55909 and 55913 some time during 2020.
As they've recently been recorded with 55909 and 55913 swapped again, I'm wondering whether they actually did swap back the their as-built formations again during 2020 and swap them again to the hybrid formation more recently, or whether the swap in 2020 didn't take place, and they've been running in the hybrid formation since 2018.
If anyone could shed any light, that would be most appreciated, thanks.

Just to add to the confusion, 180112 seems to be swapping parts with most of the class at the moment!
