Huyton-St Helen's resignalling appears to have started!

Hi guys,
Noted in Huyton engineers yard today are around 6 brand new signal posts waiting to be installed, they are of the square type. Also noted are several brand new black cables running from the SB towards the junction.
I assume this is all to do with resignalling towards saints? If so it'll be sad to see the semaphores go!

Prescot box went a couple of weeks ago

Really? I didn't know! I had noticed that it was switched out last time I passed but that's not uncommon

Apologies, a couple more weeks yet:

Prescot signal box on the Wigan-Huyton line will be taken out of use on 24/9/12. Control will go over to St.Helens & the line will become track circuit block but with axle counters

Yes, those are for the abolition of Prescott box.

Huyton (and probably St. Helens) will go during (probably) 2014 as part of the Northern Hub project at Roby / Huyton.

The network change also included a change to the junction speed from 25 to 40 mph is this part of the work in 2 weeks time? The junction looks ok for 40 mph but presumably the signalling needs to be modified before the increase in speed.
