Went to the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway today to see LNER Garter Blue liveried 4-6-2 pacific no. 8 Hurricane, which returned to service today for the first time since July 2005 after it was involved in a level crossing crash with a car near Dungeness. Below are a selection of today's Romney phots which also include no. 3 Southern Maid, no. 7 Typhoon and diesel no. 12 John Southland.

Fantastic photos there Craig :)

Nice to see No.8 out and about again :)

I'm training in Hythe signal box next Thursday so will hopefully catch her then, but had a peek at her in the shed at NR the other week and she is looking fabulous. All we need now is Goddess to be overhauled and the fleet will be in amazing shape :)

I should hopefully get down there again next Saturday as well for a photographic day :)

Kind Regards

Mark

Thanks Mark. Indeed it is nice to see No. 8 out and about again, the Romney fleet now has more colour to it. Hope the guys of the RH&DR/Crowhurst Engineering of Hythe crack on with the overhaul of Green Goddess soon.

No.6 Samson is having a little paint touch up first and then I believe Goddess is going in. The fleet should be looking fantastic over the course of the summer. All credit to Crowhurst Engineering for the incredible quality of the work that they do on the Romney locos :)

It's going to be a great summer at the RH&DR :)

Kind Regards

Thanks for telling me that. I'll have to go back to the RH&DR sometime to get no. 6 Samson coupled to its new tender and for more shots of the best Romney loco in my opionion no. 8 Hurricane.
