Hi all,

I will be travelling from Huntingdon to Tamworth tomorrow with an off peak single restriction 2v.

Trainline only shows routes changing at Peterborough and Nuneaton.

Is it a legitimate route to travel on a route changing at Peterborough and Nottingham?

Just concerned that this route doesn't come up in a search.

Thanks all!

Just to add to what @jfollows has just said, the Huntingdon to Tamworth off peak single is routed "Not via London" which thus rules out that routeing as a possible alternative way to get there.

It’s not valid for unrestricted tickets either because of the fare check rule, effectively via Hitchin is a more expensive route.

Thank you both.

Apologies for the silly question - but how can you tell this from the maps?
I missed out the steps in the routeing guide which define which maps are valid, either single or in combination, as valid for “any permitted” routes, but essentially these two combinations are shown for Peterborough-Tamworth. The maps should be self-explanatory, as showing the valid routes.

If you want to know more, start at https://rgpp.iblocks.co.uk/reference-data or attend one of the forum’s fares workshops I guess.

For most people, looking for validity on Trainline or similar is easier, but the routeing guide and its definition of valid routes underpins this and explains why you weren’t offered services via Nottingham.

Thank you for the clarification.

I'm not sure I quite get it - but I bow to your better knowledge. Travelling via Nottingham would have saved me half an hour from when I need to travel.

Ohhhh well!
