At Kings Cross today I noticed they'd borrowed a FGW 180. I assume that's just today unless I've missed something

Great to see some additional services being operated for Cup Final attendees today

Just one additional up train - EC ran a 1G50 at 1110 calling Brough, Selby and Retford.

Returning North, Hull Trains have an additional at 2111, and East Coast have one at 2135. The 1710 EC service does not appear to be running however.
There are also slots for two more EC trains at 2057 and 2150, marked "as required". I suppose in the interest of safety and crowd control. All depart from P4 at Kings Cross. Each is non stop to Doncaster, then Brough and Hull, with the HT train calling additionally at Goole.

How have East Coast managed to get away with cancelling the 1710? There's no mention of a cancellation on the "Train timetable changes" section of their website and there's nothing on the travel information either.

Also, where has the spare trains come form to run the service. The diagrams here shows that there is one spare HST based at Neville Hill on a Saturday which explains how they were able to operate an additional service from Hull this morning. This, combined with the cancelled 1710 service provides enough trains for two services to Hull, but what about the third? There's no HST's arriving in London at the end of their diagram until midnight.

I can only assume that one of the four spare 225 sets operated the later part of diagram EC010 (1S22 15:00 to Edinburgh), freeing up a HST? Presumably they have trains ready so these services can run if needed?

I noticed that at least one FGW Adelante was in service at Kings Cross yesterday (Saturday).

I know that FGW don't normally use these units at weekends; I assume they were on hire to Hull Trains for strengthening services due to Hull playing in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

Or do they turn up on Hull Trains services on occasion, anyway?

East Yorks' media reported the Hull City team travelled back north to the city on a 'special' train this afternoon - from the times it sounded like the 1248 from KX 1H03.

Good to see use of rail in this way, and attracted a good crowd to Paragon station by the sounds of it.
