sorry to start a new thread, but didn't get chance to make a reply before the fake one was closed

Nope the 86 will not be about today

and I wouldn't hold your breath expecting it to run at all, I'm not qualified or at liberty to say why, so lets just say due to a technical problem with the set, its my understanding that this project as been aborted for the foreseeable future, I suggest to get the most accurate and up to date info on this visit www.hulltrains.co.uk, where I'm sure if there are any developments they will be made available to you all

Note to Tom

you can lock this thread off now, should you so wish, no point in running any more speculation on it

Cheers

Thanks for the update Hull Driver shame to see the idea has been scrapped, also a big blow for the ACLG.

Errr, someone should tell the ACLG then...

Taken from the Latest News section on their website...

"Sir William handed over to Hull Trains

7th December 2007

86101 has now been officially handed over to Hull Trains for the duration of its hire and is likely to start services from Friday 14th December. An overhauled DVT is expected to join the rake next week for testing prior to the start of services."

The Hull Daily Mail recently reported that according to Mark Leving, the 86 will be running before the arrival of the 180s in March. Then again, you can't always believe what they report

AFAIK the 86+DVT is still on, with 86401 being OTMR'd as well so presumably also primed to appear as backup can if nothing else.

you forgot to add the post, that was underneath that article

86101 on test

30th November 2007

86101 made a test run from Bounds Green to just beyond Peterborough this afternoon, in preparation for a start of services for Hull Trains. A defect, understood to be a wheelflat, on one of the Mk3s curtailed the run and the train returned to Bounds Green hauled by 87022.

perhaps that would explain it to you

As I said watch HTs own web site, Mark will, I have no doubt issue a statement in due course, and until he does, everything else is pure speculation

Good, I can stand down then !
Right then, who wants to open the book on how long it takes for the first TDM failure?? I'll have the second day of service!
I'm not going to give up hoping until the DVT starts working properly...ever the optimist!

It is beggining to look promising now. The set looks superb. As 37402 said, let's hope the TDM isn't an issue- which seems to be the downfall of most lhcs services utilising DVTs (Manchester-Brum XC 90 anyone?). Anyway. Fingers crossed now!

Any further news regarding this? With yet another unit failure last week, I would have thought they'd be getting desperate now!
