Sorry, the information I gave wasn't great! The problem I have is the return from London to Hull. If I miss the 18.50 from Kings Cross the next train is 20.05 and then 20.30? I was wondering if there was any flexibility or way around this as the ticket I looked at was a "super off-peak" and this seemed to have quite a lot of restrictions...
If you miss the 1850, the next journey opportunity is the 2005 (an earlier train could be taken to Doncaster) which gets you into Hull at 2256, which would be a 100% Delay Repay claim for the return leg of your journey. However there is not much benefit to getting the 2005 because the 2030 only gets you in 4 minutes later at 2300.
In general if you have a "Hull Trains Only" fare for any part of your journey, and a delay on GWR cause you to miss it, I would have a word with the relevant train companies (in this case I'd tweet Hull Trains while on the train, and if appropriate, seek assistance on arrival at Paddington if it is definitely obvious you will miss the 1850 and if the queues are not too long; otherwise I'd seek assistance at King's Cross) and see if they can agree for you to be conveyed on VTEC. If this is not agreed it will potentially increase the value of your Delay Repay claim with GWR. In this particular case there is no material benefit as the arrival times are so similar into Hull.

This combination requires you to take the 1233 from Hull. You can get any train from Paddington to Reading.
On the return you can get any train from Reading to Paddington. TIme restrictions do apply out of King's Cross, but the 1850 is valid. You need to be on the 1850 to validate the Advance from Grantham to Hull, but of course if delays on GWR (or the Underground) cause you to miss it then you can take the 2030 and claim Delay Repay.
