Hull to Barton-Upon-Humber ! ?

I have just been quoted 36.60 on the National rail website for an " Anytime Day Single " . But all of the journeys are by bus . Would it be cheaper to just purchase a single on the bus ? . 36 pounds is too expensive for an 11 mile bus ride !.

How peculiar. You would obviously be much better off getting the 350 bus and paying on board (well, I don't know the fare but I guess even if it's Arriva it should be less than £35).

The rail fare is presumably priced thus as it allows you to go Hull-Selby-Doncaster-Barton, which from a glance at a map looks like the shortest route by rail.

Stagecoach, so about the same price as Arriva

It's £22 a week for the 350, and I think £3.70 for a single.

This is one of those journeys where rail can't realistically compete.

Yes, tickets still exist but are routed "HMBRLNK NOT BUS". For example

The HMBRLNK NOT BUS tickets do not include the bus (as the name suggests!) - the Barton to Hull link has been poorly integrated with the train for a long time unfortunately! Just buy your ticket on the bus.

The 350 is fast and half hourly. The Humber Flyer also runs to Barton hourly. There's no point in buying a train ticket to Barton from Hull ever as there's no line so it'll be a bus anyway (if the bus driver will accept valid train tickets is not certain).

You can go all the way to Cleethorpes for £36.60 mind (an Anytime Day Single from Barton to Cleepthorpes is only £6.80 though).

It was £3.50 single from Barton to Hull on an EYMS bus a couple of weeks ago.

I think, at 8 miles from Hull to Humber, it would still be cheaper to get a taxi both ways than go by train.

It would be cheaper still to walk the 4 miles over the water and pick up the twice daily direct service from Hessle to Hull.

The FastCat 350 bus does run on Sundays but there are gaps of up to three hours in service.
