Coming home from Hemel Hempstead to Milton Keynes I saw a large column of black smoke at Tring which was hanging directly overhead by Leighton Buzzard and remained visible beyond Bletchley. Later turned out to be a nine-appliance industrial fire in Wing. The fire resulted in a chemical warning in the immediate area and took four hours to bring under control. I've attached a few photos I took. Would be interesting to know if any of you using this section of the WCML between 3 and 7PM also saw this.

Third picture is from Bletchley, the others all in the Leighton Buzzard area.

I wasn't using the WCML but could see a huge plume of smoke and was curious as to where it came from. I searched on Bucks Fire but to no avail. Thanks for shedding some light on it.

Spotted it on yhe way home myself. Given the smoke plume assumed it was of substance. Wasn't covered on any local news

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service said:
Monday 9 December, 3.38pm: Fire in single-storey industrial unit (about 20 metres by 30 metres) divided into several private commercial units, off Cublington Road, Wing. Three appliances and crews from Aylesbury (call signs FJC 21P1, FJC 21P2 and FJC 21P4), two from Bletchley (call signs FJC 12P1 and FJC 12PW2), one from Winslow (call sign FJC 23P1), one from Waddesdon (call sign FJC 25PW1) and one from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, attended, along with the Command and Control Unit from Aylesbury (call sign FJC 21C7), the hose-laying vehicle from Stokenchurch (call sign FJC 43W41) and a number of officers. A 150-metre cordon is in place because oxy-acetylene cylinders are involved. Firefighters are using ground monitors. A man suffering from the effects of breathing in smoke was treated by paramedics. Attendance started to be scaled down at about 7.30pm.

It has just been mentioned on Heart FM. I wasn't listening to that station out of choice, I hasten to add.
