Basically which route is valid other than direct from Huddersfield, via Doncaster?

The reason I ask is that my team,Huddersfield Town, are playing Hull City next week and we'll take a sizeable following despite are poor recent form and as always we'll have a lot of fans travelling by train.Journeys there will be staggered but everybody will try and come back all at once after the game and there is only 1 direct train and hour and it'll only have 2 carriages no doubt.

So what routes are valid and before you say it Goole isn't really a credible option!!!

The "usual" route from Huddersfield to Hull doesn't go via Doncaster, it goes via Leeds and Selby.

What time will you be looking to depart Hull?

Yes I know mate, that's why I'm asking if the ticket would be valid via Doncaster for the way back as everyone will be looking to get back on the same train after the game direct to Huddersfield.Just wondered for comfort really if we could go via Donny or Sheffield even, don't fancy being packed in liked sardines thats all.The game kick offs at 12.30 so be looking to get a train about 14.30/15.00/

Sorry Andy, I got a bit confused by your comma!

Denby Dale - Hull is valid via Doncaster (then via Meadowhell but not Sheffield/Huddersfield) or via Selby, Leeds and Huddersfield.

It is the same price as Huddersfield - Hull.

Remember a First Class weekend upgrade is only £6 - get there early. And good luck to the Terriers. :)
My prediction: FC will be declassified, there will be 100+ left on the platform. There will be spare units (used M-F peak) at the depot (and a variety of excuses will be available why they can't be used) It will be formed of 2 coaches.

Go on TPE, prove me wrong, but I bet you don't! ;)

In the current timetable the 1440 ex Hull is booked to be 4 cars (2x170's). Whether this changes with new diagrams for new timetable I do not know. The 1540 and 1640 are booked 2 cars.

There are 8 Class 170 diagrams for 9 units on a Saturday, so there are no spare 170s for strengthening unfortunately.

Get a Huddersfield-Wakefield day return Route Leeds £6.10, and Wakefield-Hull day return £6.40. You can then go out via Selby but back from either Selby or Doncaster.

But theoretically there would be spare 185s on a saturday, surely? If two units could be borrowed (to replace a 2 car 170 with a 6 car desiro) then the 2 car could be used to double-up another 2 car service.

I know it isn't as simple as that.

Replace a 2 car 170 with 6 cars! Do you mean replace a pair of 170s with a pair of 185s?

There is a 4 car 170 diagram on South TPE on Saturdays.

Manchester-Hull could be run with 5 diagrams but they use a sixth due to the very short turnaround time at the Hull end if it was 5 diagrams. I'm not sure if the 6 diagrams are all 2 car 170s on Saturdays or if there is a 3 car 185 as well to mean there is a 4 car 170 diagram as well.

Blackpool/Windermere/Barrow/Scotland services run to a slightly different timetable on Saturdays with different portion workings to weekdays so I'm not sure how that effects the number of units used.
