Any fares advice on this trip would be very gratefully received.

Saturday 11th Feb

Huddersfield > Blackpool > Carlisle > Leeds > HUD

Full adult fares and no railcards held.

No specific time constraints but a degree of flexibility is essential.

Thank you in anticipation.

I suspect there are Rangers available which may help, but to kick off:

Huddersfield-Carlisle Route:Via Appleby Anytime Return £35.80
Change of route excess on outbound to Any Permitted £6.60
Preston-Blackpool North Anytime Day Return £7.80

Total £50.20.

I've not looked at Advances as you've said you need some flexibility.

That's the one. £65.00 so slightly more expensive but gives more flexibility with routes which would be useful for a long trip such as yours. Plus of course 3 further days of travel to be used (if any use).

What routes do you want to use between the stations given? Via Manchester or Burnley; via Penrith or Cumbrian Coast; via Settle or via Lancaster? as the tickets will depend on your choices.

Peter

Any route into Blackpool, then out of the other Blackpool station to Preston, straight to CAR on Virgin then direct to LDS via Settle.

If you're coming from Huddersfield you need to change at Manchester Piccadilly, for a train to Blackpool. On the next journey, change at Preston as stated. At Carlisle there are trains to Leeds, and from LDS to HUD. If not then consult a member of train staff on the day or check on nationalrail.co.uk Follow everyone else's advice for tickets.

You do not - 1tph runs from Huddersfield-Victoria, then 1tph from there to Blackpool North. Piccadilly isn't the only way, though I would consider it best.

Not so - Edit: Matt got there!

Other than that, thank you very much for your enlightening post, I'm sure the OP was unaware of the existence of NRE. The OP had specifically asked for fares advice and the best solutions for this journey. I think perhaps if you had no fares advice to give, it may have been better not advising and giving misleading information, even if it is only trivial in this case.

Not valid via Manchester and not a lot cheaper than the original response but at £48.50 it does give unlimited travel over all bar the Preston-Blackpool bit (anytime on a Saturday that is).

Metro Day Rail Rover covers to/from Leeds or Halfiax £6.20
http://www.wymetro.com/TicketsAndPasses/moresavings/WestYorkshireDayRover

North West Round Robin covering Halifax/Leeds - Preston - Carlisle -Leeds £34.50
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/promotions/pr729db00a0400020042b87ffdb587ed/details.html

and then the £7.80 Preston-Blackpool return
