Help to find cheapest please £60.50 is best I can do (East Coast website)

Either travelling out on the 17/8/10 and returning on 19/8/10 or travelling out on 18/8/10 and returning on 20/8/10.

Huddersfield to Basinstoke

(Would consider Salisbury/Andover/Pewsey as an alternative to Basinstoke as am being picked up )

Can travel any time of day after 09.00 and arrive before 22.00.

Any TOC, any route considered

If you don't mind a slow route, you could get a ticket from Huddersfield to Crewe (£20.40 SVR Outward & Return Valid at any time)
Then from Crewe you can take advantage of good value London Midland fares (there is a sale on at the moment - see relevant topic) from Crewe to London Euston, this should be about £16 I think (I can't easily look it up right now as I'm on a train). You can then get an Off Peak Return from London Terminals to Basingstoke for £25.50 SVR there are restrictions applying to this ticket). Not the fastest route, but this will total around £60 for walk-on travel.

I guess the £60 tickets you found on the EC website are for Advance tickets, this will be faster than the above option but will restrict you to the booked trains (if you miss them you have to get single tickets for about 10p less than returns!)
