Don't know if this is the correct forum, and if not I'm sure a kindly mod will move it, but:-

Just a word of warning to anyone planning on travelling between Hudds and Manchester on the morning of this coming Sunday or the return journey after about 5.30pm.
The trains will be incredibly busy due to both Huddersfield and Peterborough fans travelling to Old Trafford.
An estimated total of 50,000 fans are due to be making the journey from their respective towns and, due to the short distance, the Hudds fans in particular are planning in large numbers to "make a long day of it" and use public transport to avoid having to drive.
The TPE and Northern services up until about 1.00pm will be bedlam.

An alternative routes is advisable.

Indeed. Even our Vic's will be heeving, not only with the football fans but with the usual rail ale'ers that plague the line. I was booked to work 3 Vic-Huds this Sunday, errr no thanks!!

Seeing how TPE crowd in the commuters every working day of the year twixt Hudds and Leeds, I cannot imagine for one second they will come with a single extra carriage.
I expect the Hull sets still to be two and the rest three.

The "spare" 185s are being used on Sundays to ensure that all Manchester / Edinburgh services are formed 2 x 185. So unlikely to be much scope for running strengthened formations on the route through Huddersfield.

Update on this "situation".

This is an excerpt from an e-mail from Matthew Hey, Media Relations Manager at FTPE.

“FTPE trains between Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly are likely to be very busy and we would encourage fans to travel as early as possible to ensure they are not disappointed.”

“We are making every effort to make extra carriages available and we want to carry as many fans as possible but we only have a limited number of trains available to us. We would ask for fans to understand this and be patient with us.”

Where possible, FTPE will try to provide additional services and lengthened trains throughout Sunday 29th May and Northern Rail will also be operating services from Huddersfield to Manchester Victoria, where customers can connect onto the Manchester Metrolink for journeys to Old Trafford.

FTPE will providing additional staff and managers at Huddersfield and Manchester Piccadilly to assist fans with their travel plans.

British Transport Police (BTP) will also be in attendance at the stations and will be traveling on certain services to ensure everyone is kept safe and enjoys their day and trip to the Theatre of Dreams.

Access to Huddersfield station and train services for football bound passengers will be controlled by a queuing system, which will be operated on a first come first served basis. Reservations are no longer available although those already booked will be honoured where possible.

It is going to be carnage.
I feel very sorry for anyone planning to get to the airport on Sunday am.

FTPE will have to Honour Advance Tickets. Otherwise this can Affect Passengers not travelling to the Football.
