Hubberts Bridge Shacking

I'm planning out some station shacking in Lincolnshire, and I'm intending on using the two morning services to bounce from Hubberts Bridge to Swinehead and return before driving to somewhere a little better served to continue.

Looking on StreetView and Google Maps, there's absolutely no parking at Hubberts Bridge Station or the vicinity - has anyone done this and found a hidden gem place to park?

Just want to be considerate to the locals when I do this and avoid ditching it on the side of a road!

There's a community hall on the opposite side of the A52 but that's a very busy road to cross, especially if you happen to be not the fleetest of foot.
There's a pub on just over the river bridge from the station that would be safer. Ring them and ask whether they would mind or offer them a fiver out of courtesy.

I did spot the pub; I'll give them a buzz closer to the time as I'll only need parking for 30 minutes to complete the shuttle, thank you!

The roads in the area, the A52 in particular, are very nasty and there's no parking at Hubberts Bridge. Make sure you don't get caught out by the gates being shut.

As mentioned about the gates, don't get caught. To access the Up Platform you need to use the gate on the downside, adjacent to the signal box stairs. The upside wicket gate has been locked out of use with a fault for a couple of years now.

If you're planning the trip in the morning , then you shouldn't have any issues parking on the pub side. Dog walkers park along there during the day (outside of pub opening times).

Pedant hat on: The main road there isn't the A52. The boardsides is the A1121

I agree. The rail crossing is just as much a challenge. You can't see any vehicles approaching from Boston that are turning left to cross the railway. Very challenging.

It is one box I would not want to work, I've often thought despite the lack of trains it must be a heart in your mouth moment every time you go out to close the gates. Hard to see how they'd ever replace it with a more modern crossing though so probably got quite a good chance of being a job for life if you want it

And of course - the A52 is on the other side of the drain - our occasional (grudgingly accepted) taxis to cover Boston work get diverted by it when someone has inevitably crashed on the A1121!

Thank you to all of you for your advice - Hubberts Bridge and Swinehead successfully bagged this morning! Ended up parking on the road, was easy enough actually in the end!
