Hubberts Bridge platform removed

Searched but couldn't find anything on this.

The westbound platform at Hubberts Bridge has disappeared. A notice at Boston states that the platform was taken out of use on (I think) 19 December and a replacement road service is being provided whilst Network Rail carry out urgent work.

Anyone know the reason for removal of the platform ?

I believe it was sinking into the Forty Foot Drain its adjacent too and needed shoring up. I believe when rebuilt the platform will only be able to accommodate local door operation (ie its going to be smaller!). Still doesn't seem right with the extra 2 minutes at Swineshead on 2S04/2S20!

Presumably passengers travelling from Hubberts Bridge to stations west of Sleaford could also board the Skegness service and change at Boston for the Nottingham service.

This is when our railway looks ludicrous.
A tiny station in a tiny place, served by a couple of trains a day carrying 1400 passengers a year - as soon as any significant work was required it should have been closed.

Apparently they're also doing some track work in the area and there were concerns it would collapse during that so they demolished it as a preemptive move.

Could they be taking one line out making it single in that area, I am sure its single near there and only doubles just before the station

Interesting that there is a replacement bus in the morning to Sleaford for Grantham which also calls at Swineshead half an hour after the train has stopped there

The afternoon you have to go to Boston then come back again

Yeah there is regular passengers, around 5 school children in the morning heading to Sleaford and a couple of regulars from Boston in the afternoon. Also get passengers for the golf complex next to the station. People often walk to the Wheatsheaf Pub and then get the train back in the afternoon as well.

No. It is extremely elderly jointed track and there has been some welded rail laid out for years in the cess so I assume they're finally replacing it.
