Saturdays from mid-July, EMT are going to run a HST from Derby to Skegness and back. Departs Derby at 0753, is in Skegness from 1044 till 1126, gets back to Derby at 1420. Thing is, then what does this train do? It's not scheduled to go onto the MML, and there's nowhere else in the East Midlands that runs HSTs.

Or are they just hiring the set in for half a day? (Probably from XC, knowing their views on HSTs...)

I believe EMT are just using slack from within their own fleet. I'm sure I've read before that on Saturdays, not all the HSTs are required to cover diagrams on the MML. Until recently, I believe they also had a spare set during the week - though this has now permanently transferred to East Coast.
