HST screen washer tubes

In my limited observational experience the tubes often seem to be about four times as long as they need to be, and flap about in the slipstream. I look forward to learning the reason for the excess!

All I will say is, I have never, and I mean never been distracted by the washer tubes flapping in the wind (I'm a HST driver).

Clearly sir either your tubes are not long enough or you are simply not sufficiently windy!

On a serious note, any washer tube which is attached to the wiper (I'm thinking bus/train) tends to have a fair bit of slack in my experience, presumably it's just to give it plenty of free movement for when the wipers are on?

Yes, exactly that. I've had a reverse problem a couple times and the screenwash hose has been ripped out of what it's connected to because it is too short once the wiper is across the other side of the screen.
