HST prototype power cars

Received my model of prototype HST (Rails/Locomotion/Bachmann) today. The models running number is 41001. it state on the packaging that it also carried number 43001. I was under the impression that they were renumbered in order when the production HST power cars were built ie 41001 became 43000 and 41002 became 43001. I have looked on Wikipedia and it supports that view. Which is correct?

Not sure whether this topic should be in this section or history and nostalgia section.

Your impression is correct - the packaging is wrong. You would have thought that being the flagship model for their Railway Icons range, that Locomotion Models would have got this right...
