It should be rather sooner than that - at the time the first 802s were unveiled at the Hitachi plant in Italy in February, Rail reported that 33 of the 36 802s on order should be delivered to GWR by the end of next January, with just last trio from the add-on order for seven 9-car sets to come.

Construction has reached 25 trains at the site. There are 33 to be delivered by the end of January. GWR has 22 five-car and 14 nine-car Class 802s on order.

I understand from a reliable source that the last date for HST workings on GWR will be fairly close to December 2019.

Was originally to have been a date in February 2019, but that's not likely to happen.

That source is wrong. There is a lot of messroom and NR wibble out there at the moment but the likely date will be sometime between early Spring to Summer 2019, depending on when the December 2018 IET timetable is finally introduced and in what form.
