I'm just trying to amass some pics of HST interiors over the years. The original interiors of blue/green seating in standard and orange in first married up to the blue/grey livery - the red interior of standard and grey first class married up to Intercity swallow - but I've seen a pic of standard class with the blue square provincial moquette used which I assume married up to intercity executive livery. Has anyone any pics they can share of this interior, and its first class equivalent possibly? Thanks

No, they went straight from the original blue cloth to the red moquette in the 1980s.

The moquette you describe was only ever found in Mk2s up to Mk2e and even most of those got a different grey moquette in the 1980s. The red intercity moquette was only fitted to Mk2f and Mk3s.

That is a prototype for a refurb that never happened - I assume those seats were taken back out. The seats, as it explains, are those from the APT-P, and the moquette too. That moquette wasn't used for "squadron" HSTs.

It also isn't Provincial "blue square" moquette, that's shown on the attached (with a quite young me on the right!)

These seats came from APT vehicles which by then had been withdrawn.The tartan covers got replaced with the ones in the video clip.

Didn't those seats end up in Mk2s, specifically FOs converted to airline-seated TSOs and used by Anglia and FGW?

I found the brown interior of GNER's pre refurb HST interiors quite sombre.

IC80 seats were fitted to the 62xx (Great Western) and 68xx (Anglia) coaches you mention under BR. They were also fitted to early Mark 2s found on Liverpool Street to Kings Lynn services (later transferred to Thames route services). It is not clear whether any of these came explicitly from the APT - some new ones would have had to be made anyway.

A few of these early Mark 2s (with the IC80 seats) remain in use with Steam Dreams and a handful of preserved railways). Not sure there are any 62xx (Mark 2D) or 68xx (Mark 2F) coaches anywhere now.

Yes I can see it was a one off refurb, however I am very sure I've seen an interior shot of an HST with that moquette used in an otherwise standard interior, however I may be wrong! I found the IC80 AKA APT seats very comfy and always looked out for them in the Mk2's on the Norwich line when they were used there, and in NSE Mk2's on the Exeter line. I think these coaches were also the original stagecoach ones that were put on the back of the sleepers back in the day.

NSE Mk2's on the Exeter line

Only the vacuum braked Mk2s allocated to Cambridge then moved to Old Oak Common in 1989/1990 had IC80s.

Waterloo - Exeter air-braked Mk 2A / 2Bs had 'normal' Mark 2 seats with the winged headrest.

62xx Mk 2Ds were GW, then moved to charter stock / Stagecoach sleeper seats.

68xx Mk 2Fs were first used on Peterborough commuter services then moved to Anglia.
