Are there any classic sets left?

There is one M-F "Classic" diagram left which is expected to go over to "Castle" in January.

"Class 257 Classic" - expected to become "Class 255 Castle" in January 2020

2C05 0524 Bristol Temple Meads - Penzance
2U20 1050 Penzance - Cardiff Central
2C85 1700 Cardiff Central - Taunton
2U30 1907 Taunton - Cardiff Central
2C95 2200 Cardiff Central - Bristol Temple Meads

Unfortunately it doesn't have weekends yet.

The weekend diagrams will be added as soon as they are known. :)

Your post didn't specify you were interested in weekends.

There is a considerable degree of read-across between the weekday and Saturday timetables through the West Country, so it is not a great stretch to work out from the weekday diagrams a good few Saturday services that are highly likely to be an HST that day as well, while we wait for Mag_seven's sources to come up with the full details.

Hello,

Just wondering wether anyone has any diagrams for weekday and weekend working of HST's on 2+4's running on Worcester/Great Malvern to Bristol and the west. The only reason I ask is that I went on one from Gloucester - Bristol on Tuesday and was wondering wether there is any pattern to their working. I have looked at the diagram thread but no joy for that line.

Any questions please ask.
Thanks in advance,
Sam

I think that their use north of Bristol was a special arrangement over the post-Christmas period. As you can see from this RTT information, most of the services from Gloucester to Bristol Temple Meads run through to Westbury and beyond and obviously won't be scheduled for HSTs - https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...20-01-07/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

The one service that does appear to be a Castle set is 2C65 0700 Gloucester to Taunton https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y94885/2020-01-07/detailed which goes on to work Taunton to Cardiff services and which diagram ends at Penzance. It runs to Gloucester empty from St Philips Marsh.

There are regular (almost daily) postings of GWR workings here https://www.facebook.com/groups/ukhstgroup/.

I’ve seen HSTs working Malvern and Worcester to Bristol this week and had the pleasure of travelling on one to Bristol. Seems a bit overkill for a local service and I’m sure delays are probably caused by the thing not accelerating quickly enough. I’m not complaining though, it was a pleasure compared to the table free, grim interior of the 165s. Please bring back more of them GWR!

Shouldn’t they actually be running Cardiff to Exeter and Penance?

The trips to Great Malvern were special working during the Holiday period as spare ones were thrown up due to Engineering Work which prevented them from working to and from Cardiff. They are intended to work local services.

It would be nice if the slidy door set goes to Weymouth in the summer, the 166s cant cope on a Saturday
