What's the ratio of class 43 to Mark 3 coaches now?
Wikipedia needs a mending as the figure for class 43 is wrong concerning numbers in service area

The Mk3 Wikipedia page needs updating too as many more than 230 coaches have been scrapped now.
Only three or four 43s have actually been scrapped prior to now though.

By my reckoning, Newport alone have scrapped over 250.

Just the three long-withdrawn accident victims from Southall, Ladbroke Grove and Ufton Nervet have been scrapped of the the production power car fleet.

Yes lovely lovely through barnt green with 66737 on front. With x2 ex emr hst livery coaches. Ie the two spares at Neville Hill since December 2020. Attached to set NL51 as well. Ie 7 ex lner livery coaches. Such a shame going for scrap and NL51 couldn't stay to may 2021.
Its not NL51 (That is at Barrow Hill) these were spare ex LNER coaches

Wonder which will be the first of the current lot? 43300 seems a likely candidate.

That or 43140 would be the favourites to go next - depending how long all the various investigations and legal bits take with 140.

Surely some of the grottier stored power cars around the country would be in with a shout? Especially if 43300 is still busily providing spares for Neville Hill (which gives it until about June!)

43300 has been heavily stripped now.

Was thinking recently - will any of the GNER 'mallard' interior Mk3s survive? None so far preserved or in charter use and a fair few have gone for scrap already.

If you were after any of the Mallard Mark 3s, you'd take the current EMR ones - they have at least had some attention given to them. You wouldn't touch the rot boxes still at Ely.

IC70's in that one, albeit refurbished to VTEC standard.

Yep, indeed.

The Mallard sets were EC61-63. EC64 and NL64 were transferred from EMT, and retained fairly original interiors, which Virgin left as they were apart from seat covers and carpet. Virgin (or it might have been LNER) swapped the buffets around so that formerly spare Mallard ones were in both sets normally and the IC70-seated buffets became spare - 40732 was one of these, the one which came with EC64 when transferred.

Newport to Eastleigh will be for the barrier coaches, likewise for the other one. The interesting move is Ely Sidings to Newport SIMs where some MK3s will be making their last journey.

and it's recently been cancelled as you expected. Wonder which day will it be rescheduled to instead?
Maybe it wasn't intended to run a schedule error maybe.
Perhaps the coaches was the ones saved from scrap last Monday the 15th march 2021. To Appleby frodingham. Maybe?.

It looks like the next vehicles to go will be the former ScotRail "Classic" set vehicles stored in Dundee Yard. 57305 + Barriers currently on their way up there, will leave either tomorrow or Wednesday with potentially 5 or 6 vehicles (no path on RTT yet).
HA31 - 41126/42344/42261/44030
HA32 - 46010/42069/42118/44023

Hi @fgwrich could you please let us know where to look for the route? I’d be very interested if these pass through the Edinburgh area

Have any of the carriages involved in any major incidents been kept in service or are they all for the big depot in the sky?

42072 was involved in the Southall crash and has been refurbished and is in use with Scotrail.
