HST coach bogies. New type?

on some of the FGW coaches the bogies have yellow springs and a horizontal mechanism on them that looks a bit like the dampers fitted to a class 175 that are attached between the main body and the bogie. but on the HST the piece i'm referring to that looks similar is just on the bogie frame, not between bogie and body. just wondering what they've done to them and is it a ride quality improvement or something?

just refurbed/overhauled I would expect? They don't stay bright and shiny for long thats for sure
