HS2 operators

Hi guys I'm 19, quite a large interest in trains and the railway network. HS2 is something that interests me a lot I know quite a lot about it but still no where near as a lot of people one question I'm dying to know is what operators will operating on it? Has it been announced yet or does nobody not know? If not does anyone have roughly any ideas or predictions of who will be the operators? Will it be a whole new company or a company that already operates on uk networks? Any details / extra info would be great thanks

You'll need to wait another 10 years before anyone knows what sort of operation it might be, let alone who.

You'll certainly be a lot older, though hopefully not dying, before there's an answer to this.

Meanwhile you've probably created some sort of record. Previously the furthest into the future anyone had asked about who would operate a line which hasn't yet been constructed has related to East-West Rail. But at least much of the route of that is in existence. Imagining that that are any plans for who will operate HS2 is a fantastic excursion into the realms of speculation!

There doesn't even seem to have been any decision on whether it will be one "franchise" or several, or even a vertically integrated operator. Even more interesting when someone tries to claim a right to open access...

Who knows, by the time HS2 openes we may have gone full circle and re-nationalised by then
