Seeing the new HS2 station site being prepared in Birmingham the other day made me think about this.
Assuming a lot of HS2 customers will not live in Birmingham City centre, how long will it take to realistically get off HS2 in Birmingham and transfer to trains on the cross city, Walsall, Wolverhampton or Rugeley lines?
I'm specifying those particular routes as they are served by Birmingham New Street, where in theory it's possible to change trains in a couple of minutes, though booked connections are 15 minutes.
I'm just feeling that if there's a, say, 20-25 minute connection time, virtually all the speed advantage of taking HS2 from Euston vs current Avanti Pendolino will be lost!
