With Hull looking to be electrified what prospects do you think the line has with connecting to HS2 in the future? What services will it receive?

I'm fully aware of the route. I was just wondering as in the future a link from the Sheffield area could maybe allow trains from Hull/ Doncaster to travel on HS2 to Birmingham etc. There was mention of HS2 in recent reports relating to Hulls future electrification.
And I'm pretty sure the chance of Hull being linked to HS2 is much higher than Wick.![]()
There are 2 semi realistic options for serving Hull from HS2.
One is a dedicated spur in the Killamarsh area connecting through the old Rotherham Masborough station to Doncaster and on to Hull. If Hull and Doncaster want a service like this they would need to campaign for at least passive provision at the detailed design stage.
Secondly and much more likely is for a north facing chord at Toton to be built. This would allow trains to run on to Chesterfield and Sheffield and probably has a reasonable chance of happening.
Journey times to Hull via option 2 are unlikely to be competitive with the ECML but a Birmingham service would be a distinct possibility as HS2 north of Birmingham has plenty of spare capacity.
Erm surely a connection at Normanton (west yorks) is more realistic, the route from there being castleford, Milford junction to selby?
