HS1 Ticketing Query

I'm heading to London next week via HS1, I'll be buying a YPR ODT + HS (£16.75 from SSS).

I'm meeting a friend at St Pancras, we're planning on going to Ashford on the Javelin. An YPR Off Peak return from STP-AFK is £17.65.

Can I not buy a ticket from Ebbsfleet as I already have a HS Travelcard (saving over £6) or is this not permitted?

Thanks in advance.

I don't really understand - is this a trick question? ;)

If you are asking if a Travelcard from Sheerness on Sea (SSS) to London Zones 1 - 6 is valid on HS1, then of course it is providing it is routed "PLUS HIGH SPEED"; so you only need a ticket from Ebbsfleet.

If you get a "NOT VALID ON HS1" Travelcard then, obviously, it isn't valid on HS1.

Is it really that simple or am I missing something?

I know it's valid on HS, that's why it's a few quid dearer!

My question is as follows:

If I have a ODT Plus HS, and want to go to Ashford after travelling to St Pancras, can I buy a ticket at Ebbsfleet?

Buy a ticket from Ebbsfleet... at Ebbsfleet? Yes of course:lol:

But did you mean to ask if you can buy a ticket from Ebbsfleet at St Pancras? Yes, they are obliged to sell any ticket under ATOC rules.

Just to confirm my query (even I'm getting confused! :|):

I'm going to London via HS next Saturday, I'm planning on going to Ashford on the Javelin from STP, my question is, seeing as I already hold a High Speed ODT, can I get away with buying a return to AFK at Ebbsfleet (saving £6) and using the ODT to get back to STP?

Phew.

Ah, you've added new information. Good question, and it's probably unique to HS1. It would be daft if the answer was "no" but a strict interpretation may be "no" as you are doubling back and the Travelcard itself has no validity on HS1. It would seem very harsh to enforce that though given that it would be perfectly acceptable on any other line! So, to answer the Qs: Q1: Is it "permitted"? You'd need to ask SET. Q2:Would you "get away with" it? If it isn't valid then perhaps not now you've published your intentions on a public forum, no!

Please let us know the answer.

Basically the question is: can a Travelcard routed via HS1 be used as a Travelcard (ie for unlimited journeys) on HS1 between Stratford and London?

I can think of reasons for and against that.

I have the answer to my query - no! :P

I've bought a return ticket from SSS to AFK (Route EBSFLET+HSNOTLON), and a Ebbsfleet ODT (Route Plus High Speed).

Hope this will help when other people have a similar query for SEHS tickets.
