Hey all, are trespass or fatality incidents less common on HS1 compared with the conventional network? I understand it is more heavily fenced and has security.
Fewer stations and through trains aren't, I guess, immediately adjacent platform edges so reduces likelihood of fatalities whether deliberate or accidental.
Lots of tunnel and viaducts makes it harder to access the track.
I would have thought anything worth nicking is a bit more securely tied down than on classic rail lines.
Most of the trespass happens at stations - it's not that uncommon for somebody to hop off the platform at Stratford or Ebbsfleet and try to get over to the international platforms for instance.
