HS1/Class 395.

I'm a huge fan of High Speed 1.

I'm looking to find out more about it and more information about Class 395.

Is there any other fans on this forum?

I'm a big fan of it. I live in Sittingbourne, Kent and I despise using the mainline trains into Victoria.

They seem a bit 'desiroy' inside, but the outside did look cool racing alongside my EMT HST on arrival to St Pancras!

I too am a fan. They do look like a 2+2 version of a 450 inside but I quite like that. I really like the acceleration, it seems extra noticeable in the tunnels. The view of the QE2 bridge just after you dive over the LTS line, shortly before you dive under the river sure is a sight.

I often see them race past Dagenham Dock and think how clean they look compared to the 373s! Must get one again soon.

Impressive performance, but dont like the interior or ride quality.
I like HS1, but not really the 395s. The 375s are more comfortable.
Bring the Eurostars into it though, now they are brilliant trains!

I much prefer the 395's over the 375's. Went to visit a friend on the Kent coast a few months back and changed at Sittingbourne for the local stopper to the destination. Promptly decided to go back via HS1 rather than on the local stopper...so much more roomy!

Not sure if I experienced the full speed, as this mostly happens in tunnels, but on the way back I suspect we did as we were running late and we made up time by the time we got to London and it did feel pretty quick too, I have to say

They sure make getting to London for trips on the East and West Coast Main Lines quicker, easier and cheaper!

I've just paid £7.60 to go from Sheerness to Birmingham (one way) - ticket is valid on HS1.

3 and a half hours and ~200 miles - thats ~ £0.038 pence per mile.

It would be about an hour longer if I didn't (or couldn't) use HS1.

Its fantastic for getting up the ECML, and brilliant when im heading to The Emirates (Ashburton Grove!!)
Main problem i have with the 395s is there bland like interior, and the seats. just cant get comfy. Always use it though because even where i am, i save 15mins from the original quickest time, and it is usually getting me to a more convenient part of London as im usually heading further north

I used HS1 last Saturday . I went from ST Pancras to Canterbury West . The line is really quick getting out of London ! You seem to go very fast through the tunnels ! Fares are expensive , some £30 for an hour to London!

I've always found 395s to be fairly uncomfortable to travel in and loud in the tunnels. I'd rather sit on an 1 series electrostar, much more comfortable.

I like the Cl395s, they seem less cramped than the Cl375s to me.
