How's this for overly harsh railway penalties?

Noting that the gate in the picture is between the platform and the end of the station car park, and that it opens and closes with a simple gate latch - that is, it serves no safety critical function, it's not an access to a level crossing (where such penalties are warranted). We're in Chester-le-Street, so there's not a field with animals or any such thing next to the station that could disrupt if the gate was open.

I wonder what the out of court settlement would look like for that one

Outrageous. For the same penalty you could have fun not closing this gate 20 times!

There is ungated access to the platform on the other side of the station building from the same car park (shown on StreetView)!
