Hi, me again asking newbie questions! Just wondering if there is a way to know which end of the train first class will be before it comes in? This is for London Northwestern going from Northampton to London on a weekday morning. I read somewhere that first class tends to be at the front of the train for easy offloading when arriving in London, but other sources say that's not the case. Just trying to avoid having to rush down to the other end of the platform! Thanks as always.

Avanti usually have first class at the "London end" of their services. If this is not the case, for whatever reason, and the train runs in "reverse formation", it's invariably well advertised on the station electronic information display boards, and often platform staff, in particular at intermediate stations, will walk up and down the platform to let intending passengers know. Certainly a pain to have to move from one end of a long platform to another, and I sometimes wonder whether "reverse formation" trains possibly adds to station dwell times.

London Northwestern has a section of first class in each unit. So 4 Cars will have 1 section, 8 Cars will have 2 sections, 12 Cars will have 3 sections. They are towards the middle of each unit.
