I was planning on going from Derby to London today but there’s a lot of cancellations due to the casualties. I can get to Derby, Long Eaton and Ilkeston train stations by car, is there any way I can get to London? I know there’s trains running but I imagine they’ll be super busy and I’m trying to avoid being crammed on the train. I’m currently in a trade off of a train being cramped and taking ages to get to London so I appreciate any suggestions re alternative routes! I have a peak anytime return ticket from London to Sheffield (through chesterfield, and this is the return trip) although I haven’t used the Sheffield to Derby part as I drove. I will blame the cancellations on why I have gone a different route/will purchase a ticket if it’s relatively cheap to link up my journey. Please help!!

Is XC Derby to Tamworth and then changing to LNR for Tamworth to Euston a possibility?
Or Tamworth to Rugby or MKC and change to an Avanti from there to Euston
Or Tamworth to Rugby or MKC and change to an Avanti from there to Euston
Not valid on a Sheffield-London ticket, I don’t think. Unless by exception.
