How safe is Doncaster Station overnight?

My cheapest option for a planned journey would involve a stay of around four hours on Doncaster Station from just before 2AM until 6AM. Is this a wise thing to do in terms of personal safety and somewhere to keep warm?

I believe Doncaster station is shut after the 2330 London Kings Cross - Leeds sets down @ 0120, and doesn't open until first train in the morning. I wouldn't wait in Doncaster myself Im thinking that you mean Monday - Friday

If that is the case, what is the OP arriving on to be there at around 2am?

Quite possibly they are locked in and will be as safe as houses!

Can't testify whether the station is considered open or closed but I am pretty sure that the platforms are not closed to bona-fidae transfer passengers. As for a warm room...

There will be a lot of passing freight etc. so if you wake up every time you hear something that resembles motive power you will be in for a mainly sleepless night. Find a good spot, take a quality digital camera and be ready to snap away ...!

Would I do it? No, unless I wanted a specific working.

Its doncaster, i wouldnt stay there if you paid me overnight
i would email the station and ask about specifics. dont want to get there and them turf you out onto the streets because that will not be pleasant.

Which service or travel plan gives you this?
Doncaster station is closed between 01:30 and 05:00 (Tuesday to Saturday) and even longer on Sunday and Monday

I'm guessing that the OP is booked on 1D36 2330 KGX - LDS.

Don't bank on being allowed to stay on the station, it's closed after the passage of 1D36 (which is set down only at Doncaster anyway).

I wouldn't want to have to roam the streets of Donny at that time....

Generally these stations are closed to prevent undesirables from entering and sleeping. A bona fida passenger making a legitimate break of journey is normally allowed permitted to remain within the station. Speak to National Express whom I believe operate the station.

It is East Coast i think. I have always found that they are helpful if you explain the posistion to them. ( i had to kip on Newcastle Station once and they let me stay i na waiting room so i was warm)

Having caught this service, I can confirm that security wait for passengers off this train and then (presumably) lock up afterwards.

It is not possible to email a station, or call them.

Best bet is to ring East Coast customer services, who manage the station. They will be best placed to advise.
