Because that way you can never grow up. Once you grow up, the next step is growing old. She said she'd been 4 since 1932!!! By that rule, I'll stay at 7!!!

Even our joyride down to Lymington is gone now, replaced by "modern" units with a tendency to fail (aka 158s) :cry:

I'll agree that we all miss the 421's most dearly, but don't go dissin' our Sprinters! They've already proven their reliability and durability over the last 15 years!
The only time I've ever had a burst Sprinter was on a WOK --> WAT leg one evening, during which our accelleration and cruising speed seemed to be a few fps/mph slower than usual and we arrived WAT about ten down. It transpired on arrival at WAT that the leading unit had suffered a critical (I.E: Oil sprayed all over the side of the unit) failure in it's transmission, meaning that all the work was being done by the rear unit alone.
...Now for a single three car unit to power a heavily loaded six-car train and arrive only ten over par is pretty damn good, in my view!

Anyhow...Being who I am and what role I perform nowadays, I suppose I'm pretty much the oldest member of the forum - Considering that my age runs into nine figures plus! Sadly I have to misrepresent this on my forum profile as the system can't seem to accept a DOB earlier than 1910! hock:

Still...Only another few hundred millenia to go before I can take retirement. Given how much I love my job though, I plan to keep at it well beyond that point!
