How often do Assessments change

I know it changed around 2014 but when was the last time before that? Is it every few years or not in accordance to the lives resetting.

As for the driving assessments there is no set time when they change them. As research moves on and requirements alter then the assessment process may be tweaked but this is by no means guaranteed. If you have used your 2 lives up then that's pretty much it I would have thought.

The point is 'if' they make changes, they might not.

If someone fails the opc tests and uses all their lives then it would suggest that person does not have the necessary skills, especially for a driver role.

I knew I'd get at least a few of those responses, which is perfectly fine I know a lot of people will say if you failed twice then its not for you. All I'm curious about is before November 2013/early 2014 when was the last time before that they reset the assessment lives.

If you go to page 6 of this, there’s reference to it not being changed since the late 80’s when psychrometric testing was first introduced.

The previous driver selection process was largely unchanged since psychometric testing was first introduced in the late 1980s. This means that the abilities assessed were based on how train driving used to be, rather than how it will be in the future. The process needed to be updated to give better coverage of the abilities recognised to underpin good performance in modern train driving. The process also needed to be updated to meet the requirements of new legislation including the Train Driver Licence and Certificates Regulations introduced in 2010. Finally, there was an opportunity to improve the process so that it provides a more valid, reliable and fair assessment and conforms more closely to modern good practice.”

I will echo what has been suggested above though, if you’re wondering if it’ll be changed soon so you can get your “lives” back, I really wouldn’t hold out too much hope. Good luck for whatever reason you needed that info for anyway. Nighty night.
