I've heard that as a protest for FGW's poor performance, somebody actually climbed onto the roof of an HST at Paddington and refused to come down until FGW got its act together

They have all had wires from the beginning, to allow greater flexibility incase 1 line is unavaliable for whatever reason. Though now FGW's barrier-ing of some platforms could cause problems given that tickets can be bought on the train (for a small premium.)

Erm, if you call stock shortages and increased fares OK .....

TPE on the other hand. New trains, fares not gone up by much, and quicker services though, that is 1 franchise you can say they have managed well.

FCC, always had a shortage of 319s even under Thameslink. But FCC are refurbing the 319s, new interiors as well as the motors. Also the stations are getting a nice new furbing as well.

Indeed they seem to be doing a good job, they've also installed loads of new information systems and refurb'd lots of stations. Maybe Keolis are keeping them on a tight leash!
