Has the poster who put the spoiler up got Hatfield and Stainforth near Doncaster confused with Hatfield in Herts?
Quite possibly, I took the 2020 spreadsheet and 2022 spreadsheet and copied both station lists onto one sheet, then used the 'Match' function to resolve discrepancies. There was a discrepancy between the use of 'and' and '&' between sheets which flipped the alphabetical ordering in the lists, so it's possible I overlooked Hatfield.

The 2022 spreadsheet contains the 2020 numbers as well and shows the % difference between them. There are 141 stations with more passengers in 2021/22 than in 2019/20. Given Covid impacted 2019/20 numbers you can go back and compare with 2018/19 numbers in which case there are 205 stations in 2021/22 with more passengers than in 2018/19.

Thorpe Culvert is interesting. I know it's a very low base, but 140 per year in 2019-20 feels like one school kid going one way per day in term time on some days.

A 'leap' to 580, ie 4 x previous, feels like two kids on most school days going both ways. Unless it's some sort of different share out of rover ticket sales.
Thorpe Culvert and Havenhouse are as a result of Split Save tickets to Skegness. On the trains that stop there (particularly 0950 Nottingham to Skegness, and 1545 Nottingham to Skegness) there is a small saving to be derived and the algorithm splits there, despite it massively reducing the flexibility of the ticket to effectively advance levels.

There is a bloke who uses Thorpe from Boston cycling to his place of work, but the train times aren't convenient for returning so he buys his tickets to Wainfleet and comes back from there.

Possibly the same with Hayes (Kent), which seems unlikely to have tripled its passengers.

A number of NE London minor stations seem to have had increases, but not major ones there, which maybe points to a change in methodology on distribution of area tickets - something seen with these figures previously.

Pontefract Baghill is an interesting one, from a quick scan of the spoiler it's the only West Yorkshire station with an increase. Must admit I wasn't even certain it was currently being served by actual trains at all!

Has there been a change in how tickets to "Pontefract Stns" are allocated to the stations in the town?
