How long would be to wait for a line manager interview?

Hello there,

This might seem a bit impatient on my part but I was wondering how long it takes to hear whether you have a date for an interview at the next stage of application.

I passed the assessment centre for one of the positions of signaller at Ledbury. I found out the same day that I had passed and passed to the required standard hence my wondering about the next bit. I'm aware that these things can take their time, but its getting me twitchy!

Hello,

Very much depends on HR & Line Manager but my time line so far is...

09 March - Applied for two roles in same area. (Crossing Keeper & Signaller)
13 March - SHL Test
10 April - Assessment Scheduled
07 May - Assessment Taken in London.
08 May - Confirmed passed.
21 May - Confirmed in top 5 - passed forward for consideration for interview.
27 May - Interview Booked.
15 June - Interview by LOM's. (Both roles)
25 June - Application reassigned to new vacancy (basically offered a job I didn't apply for, still good though)
14 July - Formal offer in Progress.
22 July - Formal offer sent (whilst on hold chasing it up! LOL)
23 July - returned my acceptance.
28 July - Formal offer Accepted by NR
29 July - Took my medical, NR have requested references.

Good luck but it will take AGES... and keep checking with HR, squeeky wheel gets the oil and all that.

Well done for getting this far. First of all I would like to say it takes time, but you seem to know this and I feel your frustration as the communication between HR and candidates is limited - A call or email at some point to say 'We know you're waiting but this is the hold up' would sometime be nice.

I applied at start of March for a role in Halifax and just got given my start date today for signalling school and still have 2 more months before I begin.

For me, it was around 3 weeks from 'Under Consideration for Assessment 2' to getting the call from HR for invite to interview. I know from speaking to HR and others that it all depends on the hiring manager and their work load and availability, they may be on holiday or the rest of the panel may be away or they are waiting for other assessments results as may be interviewing for more than one box and want to do all the interviews on the same day.

Maybe give HR a ring to enquire. But in the scheme of things a 3-4 week wait is nothing when it comes to the process. Out of interest how long has it been since your status changed to "Consideration for Assessment 2"

Ah thanks for the replies. That takes a load off the mind.Its only been on the 'consideration for assessment 2' since the 17th, so in the grand scheme of things its not too bad. Will definitely follow it up this week though.

Thanks Lddex, I was paranoid I had fouled up spectacularly, so I was very chuffed to find I had passed via email on the train home!

I think I had to wait a couple of weeks for my assessment results as two others were doing theirs in another place. It was agonising to say the least.
