I agree - I've done it in 13min. There is now an alternative route along the north bank of the Trent and across a new footbridge, which is a bit longer but less traffic.
It does indeed take about 15 minutes to walk it, though i believe the suggested walking time is more like 20 minutes. I suppose it also depends if you get waylaid en-route in any of the pubs.
Alternatively you could catch one of the inconvenient trains between the two stations - depending on the time of day and direction of travel.
Well I've learnt some new! (Here's the itinerary). I presume it has to reverse back up to the flat crossing? No wonder it takes nearly as long as walking!
